Conax secures Italian HD DTT service

Conax is supplying conditional access to Italy’s new HD DTT service operated by Europa 7. The platform to be launched July 1st, is based on DVB-T2 and will provide eight HD channels on Italy’s DTT network - the world's first HD DTT platform.

Conax will provide conditional access using chipset pairing, CEO Berit Svendsen said, adding that decoders would be available in retailers throughout Italy.

With the launch of Europa 7, Conax reconfirms its position as market leader within content security for DTT. Today Conax has 40% of the global security market within DTT, including 15 national European DTT platforms.

New Conax VP APAC Sales

Are Mathisen joined Conax on April 1st as new VP APAC Sales with commercial responsibility for sales in Asia. Mr. Mathisen has 22 years of experience within the telecom sector, including 13 years at Norwegian telecom operator, Telenor, holding various senior positions in Norway, Slovakia, Morocco and Bulgaria.

Mathisen has also held the position of CEO for Axiti ASA (Norway and Denmark) from July 2000 until December 2004, and CMO for 3G mobile operators in Asia (qb and Mojo) from 2005 until joining Conax spring 2010.

With extensive experience from the telecom industry, Mr. Mathisen's wide experience and strong knowledge of the Asian markets will make a significant contribution to Conax’ operations in the Asian region.

 

Conax receives high scores in Customer Satisfaction Survey

 "9 of 10 customers are satisfied with Conax. This is a high level of customer satisfaction based on our experience with similar customer satisfaction surveys within this target group", says Erik Griffin, Senior Consultant at Synovate Norway.


At the end of 2009 and the first months of 2010 Synovate Norway carried out a worldwide customer satisfaction survey on behalf of Conax.

"Survey results indicated that key areas behind the high satisfaction level include the quality of the Conax systems and the technical competence of the Conax contacts that serve customers", says Mr. Griffin.


The survey covered 60 Conax contacts in 29 countries and has provided valuable feedback from every corner of the world. Conax has gained a broad understanding of customers’ needs and expectations, feedback that will enable the company to improve its services.

For every respondent, Conax has donated USD 10 to the International Red Cross/Red Crescent or Unicef.  The response from the participants led to an even distribution of donations to both organisations.

 

Appreciation: Two participants in the web survey have been drawn randomly among the participants to receive an appreciation prize and they will be contacted by Synovate Norway.

 

Conax support for CI+

Conax Security Integrated CI+ CAMs are now available in the market. The CI+ standard means increased content protection providing a secure interface between the CAM and hosts, such as integrated digital TVs and common interface set-top boxes.

At ANGA Cable SmarDTV, a Kudelski Group company, announced that it has achieved Conax CI Plus certification with its latest and most secure SmarCAM-3 module incorporating Conax CAS7 software.

“The certification of this new Conax secure silicon module is a key milestone in SmarDTV’s strategy to develop highly secure modules and CI Plus in order to offer operators around the world an increased level of security that meets the demanding requirements of the world’s leading CA companies,” said Conor Ryan, Vice-President of Marketing at SmarDTV.

SmarDTV intends to introduce its first SmarCAM-3 Conax V7 products in early Q2 in collaboration with a major operator. In addition to SmarDTV, SMiT also offers certified Conax CI+ CAMs.
