RSA keys

The RSA algorithm is used in public key cryptography and is based on the fact that it is easy to multiply large prime numbers together, but hard to factor them out of the product.

Return channel security

Security concepts (e.g. signature, encryption, replay protection) applied on return channel communication.

RSA

Short for Rivest, Shamir & Adleman. A public key crypto algorithm.

Receiver

Used interchangeably with STB.

Residential Gateway

A residential gateway connects the home's LAN to an outside signal source, e.g. a TV source or an internet connection. In TV context, a residential gateway is often linked with a common PVR that is shared between the STBs/devices connected to the LAN.

Return channel

Broadcast infrastructure where the consumer has a two-way communication channel.

Revocation

The removal of access or usage privileges previously granted by the rights holder.

Random number

A number that is generated from a non predictable source.
