Conax CAS7 CableCard™

CableLabs® is a non-profit research and development consortium for the North American cable TV market. The CableLabs® specifications for digital TV are adopted by the US and in Korean cable TV broadcast markets.

CableLabs® OpenCable™ hardware specifications define the STB Core Functional Requirements, a copy protection system, and the CableCard™ module and STB interface. These specifications define a removable external PCMCIA security module that separates the conditional access system from the cable reception devices and enables portability of the STB to other cable networks independent of the conditional access system.

CableCard™ is also formerly known as a POD (Point of Deployment).

Conax CableCard™ performs communication with the smart card for the conditional access function and descrambles the digital television content.
