SMS

A Subscriber Management System (SMS) keeps control of subscriber details. Data kept in an SMS is usually information about subscribers, consumer equipment, pay-TV, products, access rights, dealers, billing information etc.

The Conax CAS has a standard interface to the SMS. Information stored in the SMS will be such as:

  • Customer address
  • Customer smart card
  • Services available
  • Services the customer subscribes to
  • Prices
  • Set-Top-Box identification

The SMS sends information to the Conax CAS on regular basis. The conditional access system makes sure that the consumer's smart card is granting access to the services subscribed for. The information passed on from the SMS to the conditional access system is limited to:

  • Smart card identification
  • Product identification
  • Pay-TV product authorisation data

Conax is in close collaboration with a number of SMS suppliers, giving the customer an option in choice of the SMS' complexity and functions.
