Centennial, CO, USA, February 28, 2011 – Evolution Digital, LLC, a leading supplier of digital solutions for bandwidth reclamation and next-generation set-top boxes, today announced in partnership with Avail-TVN, the largest digital media services company in North America and Conax, one of the world’s largest Content Security providers, the launch of an innovative turn-key content and CA Hosted Solution for US cable operators.
This new Hosted Solution will allow cable operators to deploy Evolution DTA’s with Conax Content Security and delivers a full content line-up of MPEG-4 encoded live programming, provided by digital media services leader Avail-TVN, without the need for expensive local Content Security systems in every headend. Conax Content Security, Set Top Box control, SI and CableCARDTM support will be hosted at Avail-TVN’s Super Headend in Burbank, CA.
Conax successfully serves 350+ operators in 80 countries and is Evolution Digital’s Content Security partner for the North American Market. Conax and Evolution Digital have successfully deployed Content Security and Set Top Box solutions for a number of Operators in the North American market. The Conax Content Security Hosted Solution enables operators to deploy Avail-TVN’s linear SD and HD programming securely and fully encrypted at an affordable price.
“We understand system operations and bandwidth reclamation,” explains Marc Cohen, Executive Vice President of Sales, Evolution Digital, who, prior to joining Evolution, was an independent operator with multiple bandwidth challenged systems. “Developing a hosted MPEG-4 solution as a vendor has been a top priority. The ability for operators to cost effectively launch MPEG-4 is important to both independent operators and large MSO’s.
“The cost savings for operators receiving a centralized MPEG-4 feed in a fully hosted environment is substantial. Our solution will help operators regain significant bandwidth while reducing the initial capital expenditure and ongoing headend support costs to do so.”
Evolution and Conax have dedicated engineering staff to manage all Hosted Solution launches and on-going support.
CoBridge and Zito Media are the first operators to sign up for the new Hosted Solution. CoBridge recently purchased 36 systems located in seven states. CoBridge is taking an aggressive strategy to reclaim bandwidth and launch MPEG-4 without completing a full rebuild. The hosted solution allows CoBridge the option to move fast and keep their costs down. Zito Media started deploying a centralized MPEG-4 solution with Evolution and Avail-TVN several months ago. Switching to the Hosted Solution will allow Zito Media to accelerate their deployment schedule.
