Conax provides pay-tv operators in the Latin America markets with premium content security platforms for securing their digital assets, including related products following DVB standards such as Pre-Pay, Pay-per-View, On-Demand and Messaging supporting a variety of new revenue-generating consumer services.
Latin America is a rapidly expanding market where operators are migrating from analogue to digital services and require digitization expertise to make the transition from analogue to digital services. Conax success in the region is based primarily on its high quality security for DVB solutions growing spurred by freedom of choice, flexibility, security and affordability.
“Operators’ commitment to security partner Conax is based on its record of integrity as the most secure content protection solution for evolving pay-tv content distribution operations. Conax provides the expertise and guidance required for a comprehensive, successful digitization process, confirms Ricardo Pirola, VP Latin America, Conax. Conax has shown consistent growth and is positioning to capture a winning share of the Latin America growth in the next decade.”
Current prognoses indicate that Brazil holds the highest potential, estimated at over 40 million TV households. Today, Mexico has the largest number of pay TV households in Latin America, followed by Brazil and Argentina with 9.8 and 7.9 million pay TV households, respectively.
“Pay-TV figures also tell us that that penetration is still low in low income zones. Conax has been recognized as the strongest contender for providing operators and industry partners with comprehensive, profitable security models for pay-tv distribution within all demographics, says Mr. Pirola.”
According to new research and forecast by Dataxis:
• Latin American pay-tv market will reach 67.3 million clients by 2016.
• This figure will be equal to a penetration of 48.1% of TV homes
• In 2016, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and Argentina will be the four biggest markets for TV per volume of clients, with approximately 87.4% of subscribers
• By 2016, 90% of pay-tv subscribers will use some kind of digital platform
• DTH will likely boast highest growth rates, and digital cable will be the second option since nearly 30% of the total subscribers by 2016 and IPTV with 7%
