Two Uruguayan cable operators, Montecable and Nuevo Siglo, deployed Conax’ hybrid solution for VOD OTT services

Uruguayan Pay TV operators Montecable and Nuevo Siglo have implemented Conax Contego Unite and Conax Secure Clients security solutions, which will allow the addition of advanced multiscreen OTT, video multi-network and content consumption services. This way, both operators will implement a Hybrid DVB-C/IP OTT platform that will allow them to offer differentiator services such as VOD and other content on demand options.

The announcement for the new agreements was done during NexTV South America Summit’s first day, event that took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on June 25-26. Conax Contego Unite and Conax Secure Clients use will allow Montecable and Nuevo Siglo to add new services to their offer, such as secure packages of OTT, VOD, Live TV and multiscreen services. “Conax’ integration is very important, since solutions are pre-integrated”, stated Ezio Sanchez, General Manager South America for Conax. And he continued: “This means a smaller investment on the client’s part. It is much faster, easier and secure”.

Both operators did the commercial deployment with security partner Conax and middleware supplier Cubiware, in a joint project led by system integrator Bold MSS to roll out OTT broadband services. The new Conax Security platform deployed for provisioning the Hybrid DVB-C/P solution will run in simulcrypt with a legacy security platform.

Mario Oliveira, Nuevo Siglo’s CTO, explained: “Conax offered both a highly flexible, proven eco-system and the freedom to choose the OTT system components. Thus, we selected the combined Conax / Cubiware solution to provide us with both proven, future-proof security and additional flexibility for consumer services moving into the next generation of content consumption”. On the other hand, Montecable’s CTO Federico de León, assured that “the proven, future-oriented and efficient solutions provided by Conax and Cubiware is enabling us to offer a highly unique market differentiator for tapping the new revenue streams offered by OTT content.”
